miss macri - where I've been, classroom speaking

I got my first teaching job the day after my 22nd birthday, and it was on the 5th day of school! Ever since, it has been quite the ride.

First placement - kindergarten
and yes, I was scared, and had no idea what I was doing
I hadn't been in a kindergarten classroom since I was in kindergarten myself
thankfully, I had a great team that got me on the right track
*fun fact - I taught kindergarten at the same school I had attended for kindergarten*

2nd Placement - 6th grade
I was able to stay at the same school - quite the luxury
and man was I excited to  be in 6th grade
I felt like I had finally made it!
And not to mention, my grade level partner & I pretty much rocked that year!

3rd Placement - 2/3 Combination Class @ a different school
Let's just say, I wasn't a fan of a combo
And I'm not in love with the "middle grades"
But, regardless, we made some pretty amazing progress
and some awesome art

4th Placement - 5th Grade at yes, another school
Had an amazing year where I learned so much about myself
This year flew by so fast - because as they say
"time flies when you're having fun"
and that's what we did

Now, when you take into account my student teaching
1st Grade & 6th Grade
and my summer school classes
1st Summer3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th combination class with 38 kids
2nd Summer - 3rd Grade
3rd Summer - 6th Grade
and a long term sub position in the 4th Grade was thrown in there somewhere
yes, you figured it out
in the four years since I earned my credential
I have taught in some capacity ALL grades K-6

So, I'll keep you posted as to where I land next.
The long running joke is middle school,
because, well, it's the only place they haven't put me!

With that being said, I really wouldn't change the first four years if I could,
they made me a much stronger teacher than I could ever have imagined.

Because I can apparently see the future - my fifth year has placed me in middle school.
8th Grade U.S. History to be exact
