Everly Mae's Nursery

When it came to designing Everly's nursery I knew that I wanted to stay away from anything too girlie, and anything too theme-ey.  When we lived in our flat, E's room was right in the middle of the house, so we wanted to keep the color scheme flowing with the rest of the house with some vintage touches.  When we moved into our house I was excited to paint her room to really bring together the vision that I had and wasn't able to pull together in an apartment that had already been painted pale yellow.  So here we are, and I love her orange, turquoise, grey, black, white, and ultra-patterned room.
I would say that I have been working on pieces for Everly's room for over a year now, and I think I finally have it just right.  Here are a few of of my shopping links:

crib, changing mat - amazon
rug, wardrobe, book ledges, curtain sheers, grey dresser [repainted] - ikea
hanging lamp, rocker, baby scale, E lamp, school blocks & radio - vintage
bumper, owl hampers, "first year" picture frame, grey drapes - target
wooden name, footprint canvas, acrylic paints - michael's
embroidery hoops & fabric - joann's
quilted pillow & watercolor name art - handmade by two great friends of mine, nicole & kathy
hoho's made by crystal of little bit funky
pyrex inspired mobile made by hiramariya

a little while back I got help from my friend
Jaymee Srp of the Design Hive and owner of the shop Retro Menagerie
thankfully I had her to help me get going on E's nursery walls
because I had ideas, but no real place to start
we made a plan, got what we needed, and executed all in one afternoon
just the way I like when getting things done
and yesterday I ordered the perfect mobile - I can't wait to get it
things are really starting to come together, and I couldn't be happier

keeping balance

yesterday I made some major progress in the nursery
with some help from a great friend, Jaymee from The Design Hive
I can't wait to share what we worked on soon
but here is just one of my favorite additions we added to the nursery

trying to keep balance in the nursery with new additions and still keeping to
our design style of mid-century modern is truly my focus
and adding this vintage nursery scale is just what I needed

getting crafty

well my first nursery wall art project was pretty simple
and thanks to pinterest, inspiration has not been a problem at all
I have been seeing everywhere in nurseries embroidery hoops used with pretty textiles
so I decided to give it a shot
for now they are propped up on the little lady's dresser
but I'll figure out where exactly to hang them soon enough
also, I've been pretty busy the last two days
and things are quickly starting to look a lot more like a nursery
here's just a peek -

over a year in the making

a little over a year now we acquired several pieces of
danish modern/mid-century furniture
and one of the coolest pieces was a three seat sofa with attached side table
the only downfall was it was super original
meaning some awkward cream pleather cushions [see below]
so I tried to make do with some pretty pillows
but part of making room for baby has also been making sure we do all those "things"
that can easily get put on the back-burner
no longer a questionable sofa, just awesomeness
thanks to the owner's of Scout Living for referring us to Standard Upholstery
we couldn't be happier with their work & our new addition to our home

so nesting is kind of addicting

well I think I can officially say that I am in crazy nesting mode
while working on some masters homework I decided that this afternoon it was dresser makeover time
and that's exactly what I did
in under three hours from start to finish I was snapping these pictures
I was on a crazy mission
and now I am happy
for the day at least, who knows what tomorrow will have in store for me
the best part was getting to put little lewis' goodies away somewhere
and not just sitting in a shopping bag on the floor of the bedroom
the place where they had been collecting for the past couple of months
also, Luna was a perfect angel today for me while I had the house turned into a
painting war zone
so bottom line, second trimester of pregnancy means more energy than all the starbucks in the world

making room for baby part I

this week the husband & I started officially making room for baby
when we first found out we were expecting
our initial plan was to move over the summer and buy a house
however, buying a house means leaving our neighborhood
a neighborhood, which, I may be biased, but I do believe to be the best part of
our state's capitol
so, as soon as we officially realized we were going to be staying in our one bedroom flat
for at least another year
it was time to start making room for baby
and even though there is only one official bedroom
we technically have two living rooms
and one will be turning into little lewis' nursery in the coming months
here's some ideas I'm currently bouncing around
1. crane mobile  2. colors  3. lamp  4. rug  5. crib  6. alphabet
but for now I will keep organizing and cleaning out what we already have
and only six more days until we find out if we are having a boy or girl!
