three months [part I]

last month we got all pretty and took everly's three month photos
I decided that I wanted to stay close to our midtown apartment for these pictures
and now I am even more thankful that I did
since shortly after we took these pictures we decided to move
from the little flat we started our family in
so, once again, thank you to the amazing Sarah
for capturing our little family
I just love all the images
we got Everly making all sorts of crazy faces [big surprise]
and Sarah even captured her "scared face"
something that is quickly disappearing
and since this post has already gotten way out of control with too many photos
I will break up all the awesomeness over two days
so stay tuned tomorrow for the rest of our three month photos!
[good news, everly wakes up for the second half of the session
and the smiles are officially on]

ten on ten [march 2013]

so we have moved
we are officially in our new place
and it has been a whirlwind
I'm just thankful I realized it was the tenth this morning when I checked my phone
so here's my day
we are getting things settled
one room at a time

everly mae is four months old

I cannot believe that every day Everly brings us even more happiness
her personality has really become even more apparent
these past few days
her smiles, and laughs, are all too much
her coos are full blown conversations if you ask her
I love when she finds another adorable way to show us
how much she loves us too
whether it be how she wraps her hands around us
or how she smiles at you while peeking over her daddy's shoulder
or looking up at me while nursing
it is pretty clear the love is mutual around here
happy four months Everly Mae

what we can all learn from our littles

the month of march is going to be one filled with many amazing new beginnings
it will also mark the day I take the step into working mom territory
and while I still am trying to keep looking forward to everything positive in my life
I realize there is a lot to be learned from the littles
Everly is the happiest baby around
she wakes up, and within seconds of her eyes being open
she is smiling once again
she knows that life is good
she has people there for her
food to eat, a warm bed to sleep in, and lots of love
and sure, we could say, well yeah, she's a baby
of course life is good
but when it comes down to it, most of our lives look pretty darn similar
to the things that she loves every day
sure we have other stresses as grown ups do
but maybe I just need to focus on the little great things that we have
look at that pure joy
just so excited to be hanging out on the bed while I switch over laundry
and man, does this little girl love watching me fold laundry
sure, I'm singing and talking in several voices while doing it
but I can say one thing, laundry is a ton more fun
with miss E hanging out with me
and that's not going to change any time soon, working mom or not
and for a side note
I'm slowly figuring out my new camera
and I love that these images were all taken and no editing was needed
go figure, shooting on manual has its perks

and now we say goodbye to this little space

last night we had a moving party.  the decor was stacks of boxes and the menu was pizza.  we had just a few close friends over and enjoyed our balcony and little apartment one more time on a Saturday night.  we enjoyed the strangely warm march evening, played some games, and of course, everly was quite the hit of the party.
I have had a love affair with this flat.  I have loved it's yellow walls, the black and white kitchen tiles, the claw foot bathtub, and most importantly, we live on "the" street of midtown.  we have enjoyed many evenings of people watching on the balcony.  we don't hear the cars anymore, and I have a feeling that when we move, even though it is only ten minutes away, the nights are going to sound strangely quiet.  and even though I have loved this place, it is time to say goodbye.

this was the home that the mr. and I moved into just three short months after we were married.  it has been the first place other than my childhood house that I really felt I could call home.  it was the place that the husband and I realized our obsession with the sixties and all things vintage, and filled it to beyond capacity.  it has been a home that we could invite friends and family over, and have enjoyed many patio parties and b.b.q's.  and most importantly, it was the place we realized we were expecting, it's the bathtub I labored in for hours, and the home where we brought our everly for the very first time.  it was the space we learned how to be parents, and enjoyed our first four months with the best thing that has ever happened to us.

but here's the thing, my love for this place has run its course.  we have beyond outgrown this one bedroom, one closet, friends have to line up in the hallway when we serve dinner, little apartment.  our closet was literally busting at the seams, and the thought of childproofing this space became overwhelming.  we weren't looking to move per se, but we happened upon the home as we were driving one day, knew it was in the neighborhood we hope to buy in in the near future, and the price was right.  not to mention, it is a home.  no shared walls, no need to keep my clicking work shoes off until I get to the door.  instead, we will have three bedrooms, four closets, a kitchen that multiple people can stand in at the same time, a garage, a front porch, and a whole stinkin backyard just for us.  this new space will be ours for the next year, or two, or three.  it will be the home where everly learns to crawl, takes her first steps, and begins talking.  we will make it ours, enjoy entertaining and the holidays just a little bit more, and start feeling even more grown up.

it's time.  so now we say goodbye to this little space.
